Devizes is just 20 miles from Bath, 16 miles from Stonehenge and 8 miles from Avebury. It is within easy distance of the beautiful Lacock village and abbey, of Bowood House and its adventure playground and the Longleat safari park. Pinetree is the perfect base for exploring Wiltshire and its surrounding areas, such as Castle Combe, Marlborough, Market Lavington, Seend, Corsham.

The National Cycle Network is a great way to find traffic-free routes and quiet lanes. These routes pass through Devizes: routes To London, Weybridge, Windsor, Maidenhead, Reading, Thatcham, Newbury, Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Bath, Bristol and Chepstow. From Pinetree our favourite ride runs below the Wansdyke to Pewsey and then on up on to Salisbury Plain, but there are many many more.
There are many opportunities to enjoy nature in and around Devizes, from walks on Oliver's Mount to a visit to Drews Pond Wood Nature Reserve, a 15-hectare reserve which is home to wildlife, including birds, butterflies, and bats. Or a visit to Devizes and Roundway Orchard and Old Cricket Field, a small reserve with wildflowers and other wildlife along with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
From Pinetree and Roundway village you can walk up on to Oliver's Mount and from here you can join the Mid Wilts Way, a 68-mile walking route that takes in some of Wiltshire's finest countryside and downland areas, it runs from the village of Ham (near Inkpen) to Mere (near Warminster). Or you can join the Wessex Ridgeway which runs 136 miles from Marlborough to Lyme Regis, via the northern edge of Salisbury Plain. Of course both routes can be done in sections!
Devizes has three major visitor attractions. The tour of Wadworth Brewery, you can taste their renowned 6X ale and meet the majestic shire horses that still deliver to the town's pubs. The remarkable Caen Hill flight, a testament to Georgian engineering, with its 29 locks on the Kennet and Avon canal. And the Wiltshire Museum, illustrating the local tales of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Sites.
